Green beans on new routes: Sustainable transportation by rail

As part of our sustainability strategy, we have made a significant change in our logistics chain: raw coffee is now primarily transported by train instead of by road. This shift to rail transport significantly contributes to reducing our CO₂ emissions while also utilizing more efficient transport solutions.

Through collaboration with our strategic partners, we now use the rail connection from Antwerp and Hamburg to our site in Gümligen, Switzerland. This change brings great benefits: we will reduce our CO₂ emissions on this route by more than 71% in the future. Additionally, we benefit from optimized loading capacities and attractive freight rates, which improve the cost-effectiveness of the transport.

The decision to transition raw coffee transport from road to rail was a clear one, as it offers a valuable opportunity to enhance sustainability while improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of our logistics

We look forward to continuing this journey and working together with our partners towards an even more sustainable future.
