The Power of the Sun - Roof Surfaces as a Source of Energy
Nowadays, renewable energies represent an important aspect of sustainability management and should be evaluated for one's own company and the associated opportunities. Above all, this includes recognizing one's own solar potential. The Gutschermühle team took on this task and evaluated the available roof areas.
Thanks to a total of about 5,000 m² of flat roof, there was enough reason to realize the project of an own photovoltaic system. With an Austrian solar company that specializes in large-scale systems and industrial roofs, calculations were made, plans were drawn up and finally the solar cells were ordered that will cover the majority of the roof surface.
In a project duration of just 9 months, a solar power plant was built on the roofs of the company which, together with the hydroelectric power plant, can cover half of the company's annual electricity requirements. As in the case of the hydroelectric power plant, an annual yield of 550,000 kilowatt hours can be expected, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of 150 single-family households. This will make a significant contribution to the company's eco-balance.
